Q:
What is Feng Shui exactly?
A. Feng Shui is the art and science of
arranging your environment in ways to enhance the quality of your life.
Simply stated, it's done by enhancing the energy flow (ch'i) in your
surroundings all the while focusing on living in balance and harmony with
nature.
Q. What does a
Feng Shui consultant do during a consultation?
A. I am trained to look at the way energy
flows in your home or workplace. I then assist you in creating an
atmosphere that is safe, comfortable, organized and dynamically alive and
expressive - an environment that supports your aliveness and
self-expression. It's all very personal and individualized. Your taste and
style are most important. Shapes, colors and placement of objects are all
part of what are considered during the consultation. I make suggestions
for enhancements as we balance the Five Elements, use the Bagua and take
into consideration the yin and yang of the surroundings.
Q. I've read
several books on Feng Shui. There's different information in each of them.
I'm more confused than ever. Why is that?
A. That's because there are several different
schools of Feng Shui. My training encompasses both the eastern traditions
of the Black Sect Feng Shui as taught by Master Lin Yun and the western
teachings of Essential Feng Shui® from the
Western School of Feng Shui™ in
San Diego, CA. Both are based on "ch'i" or vital energy.
Compass directions are not utilized. Instead we use the entrance of the
room, house, office or property as the main reference point. I work with
the Bagua to make enhancements throughout the environment according to
your aspirations, concerns, goals and objectives.
Q. How long have you been practicing Feng Shui?
A. I've been intuitively practicing the philosophy of Feng Shui
throughout my 25 year career as a designer of interior spaces. I just
didn't know it was called Feng Shui back then. When I picked up my first
book on the subject about 5 years ago, I knew that I had to learn more. I
studied with masters and got my formal training with them.
Q. Will it be necessary to purchase new furniture
and accessories?
A. With Essential Feng Shui® I work with what you already own and
love. Sometimes dramatic changes are made simply by moving an object or an
item already in your home or workspace. If you are making new purchases,
assistance is available to make favorable, desirable, satisfying
selections.
Q. What do you charge?
A. My fee is $450.00 for a three hour residential consultation. For
commercial and business consultations I charge $250-$350 per hour.
Q. Do I get a
written report or tape recording?
A. I provide a tape recording of the entire residential
consultation together with easy to understand charts and diagrams to
support the recording. It's as much of a teaching of Feng Shui as it
is a consultation. When I leave you have a clear understanding of how to
proceed with any changes suggested. For business consultations a full
comprehensive written report is sent after the consultation.
